Drew Barrymore

Drew Blythe Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975. Parented by the famous hollywood-royalty Barrymore family. She first acted at the tender age of 11 months in a TV commercial. At 7, drew was starring in box-office record-breaker E.T. (1982). The flip side of this child stardom was revealed when she dropped out of school at 14 and published her co-written autobiography, Little Girl Lost (1990). Drinking at 9, dope-smoking at 10 and coke-snorting at 12 were some of the stops on Barrymore's descent. After a string of roles in little-seen movies, Drew Barrymore played an amoral teen seductress in Poison Ivy (1992). The role brought her minor-icon status that was further cemented by a Guess add shot by Ellen Von Unwerth. It was a jeans ad campaign which highlighted her white trash sex appeal.

Drew Barrymore tends to fare best in high-spirited, low-class projects like The Amy Fisher Story (tv movie, 1993), Guncrazy (1992), and the short-lived twentysomething soap 2000 Malibu Road (1992), rather than in mid-budget hollywood fodder like Bad Girls (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), and Mad Love (1995). Less than two months after her March 1994 marriage to an LA bar owner, Drew Barrymore filed for divorce; she subsequently became involved with Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, whose praises she invariably sang on her many TV talk show appearances. After many nude public appearances, including the David Letterman, and the China Club, Drew Barrymore has finally begun to settle down. She has begun to throw off her bad girl attitude and settle for a more womanly one. Drew Barrymore is now a spokesperson, and actress for a women's condom commercial which aired on MTV.

Drew's latest moves in showbiz, include her excellent performance in Wes Craven's "Scream"(1996), her role in Woody Allen's "Everyone Says I Love You"(1996), and "The Wedding Singer"(1997). In 1996. on a film shoot, Drew Barrymore met her latest love, Luke Wilson, whom she broke up with recently(1999). Drew Barrymore is now enjoying her life. She played a Cinderella with Girl Power in the movie "Ever After"(1998), she played a pregnant fast-food worker in "Home Fries"(1998), and played Luke Wilson's fiance in the movie "Best Men"(1998). Recently her first produced movie got released in the theaters (April 9, 1999), "Never Been Kissed." "Never Been Kissed" is her companies, Flower Films, first released movie. Her partner in Flower Films is Nancy Jevonen. Drew's next movie from Flower Films is Charlie's Angels.

New on DVD: Sandler, Barrymore reunite
Reuniting with Drew Barrymore, his co-star from ``The Wedding Singer,'' Adam Sandler hits a career high in this surprisingly touching romance.

Sandler plays a love-'em-and-leave-'em bachelor forced to concoct new ways each day to win the love of his dream girl - a head-injury victim who cannot retain new memories and forgets him overnight.

Director Peter Segal provides commentary for about four minutes of deleted scenes. The director also joins Barrymore on self-congratulatory but genial audio commentary for the full movie.

Segal notes that Sandler and his writing partners gave a good going-over to the original script, lightening up a tone that had bordered on melodrama.

John Vanderslice - "Cellar Door" (Barsuk)
Drew Barrymore's character in the movie "Donnie Darko" says that "cellar door" is the most beautiful phrase in the English language. "Cellar Door" is also the name of the brilliantly crafted new album from John Vanderslice. He combines incredible piano with amazing guitar riffs and his own haunting voice to paint a picture that is both vivid and stunning.
